General Women's Health
This type of session is perfect for absolutely anyone who may be experiencing pain, has questions about function/exercise/physical activity, or would like to improve their quality of life. This session can include anything from back/hip/knee/neck pain, prepping for surgery, recovering from surgery, or wanting to improve your physical health and wellbeing, or looking for advice on the right team/professionals for you. You are never rushed, and Janessa analyzes and considers every aspect of your life which could be contributing to your situation. These sessions vary considerably depending on your needs. You are always in the drivers’ seat of your care, and Janessa will work with you to meet you where you’re at.

Pregnancy + Push Preparation
This type of appointment is perfect for any woman at any stage of pregnancy, whether you’re experiencing symptoms or not. It’s never too early or too late to prevent or treat pelvic issues during pregnancy. You deserve a comfortable, prepared, and confident pregnancy. It can be a great way to discuss concerns, prepare for the future, get guidance on starting or continuing with exercise, and ease any fears you may have. Janessa will provide you with prenatal exercises, labour tips, pain-relief strategies, optimal pushing techniques, and postnatal recovery tips.
- The biomechanics and physiology of labour and birth
- How to prevent, manage, reduce, and treat issues that are common with pregnancy (this doesn’t mean you have to live with them!) These include but are not limited to, low back/pelvic girdle/tailbone pain, pubic symphysis dysfunction, urinary/fecal incontinence, prolapse, constipation, urinary frequency and urinary urgency
- How to the nervous system impacts our birth experience, and how we can use it to our advantage
- Strategies such as perineal massage that can reduce risk of tearing
- Pain management and coping strategies for labour
- Pushing and preparation strategies that can help to protect the pelvic floor
- How to gain confidence in you and your abilities during birth and after
It is important to acknowledge the unpredictability of labor and delivery. I do my best to ensure you are prepared for more than one scenario, and ensure you are feeling comfortable if things may not go as you have planned.
* Partners are welcome at sessions to learn how they can help support you with coping strategies for labour.
Your individualized treatment may include any of the following:
- Internal pelvic floor manual therapy to decrease tension and increase strength/support for your pelvic floor and entire body.
- Guidance and individualized support with exercise you enjoy during pregnancy, and assisting if experiencing symptoms
- External manual therapy (cupping, massage, soft tissue release etc.)
- Kinesiotape
- A home exercise program tailored to your goals

Postpartum Sessions
These sessions are designed for any mom post-delivery (at any stage). Assessment and treatment is for both vaginal or caesarean birth, whether you are experiencing symptoms or not. It’s never too late to receive care for you and your pelvic floor, no matter your stage in life.
- How to reconnect and retrain your core and whole body to create optimal support for your body after birth.
- How to prevent, manage, reduce or resolve common postpartum conditions including low back/ pelvic girdle/ tailbone pain, urinary/fecal incontinence, prolapse, pubic symphysis dysfunction, diastasis (abdominal separation), internal pelvic pain during intercourse.
- How to decrease scar tension and/or pain from birth (caesarean or vaginal)
- What exercises are best suited for you where you’re at, and what your goals are (kegels are not always the answer!)
- Effective steps to return to the exercise and sports you enjoy after giving birth. Nothing is off the table, and no goal is too far out of reach.
*Postpartum appointments that occur as early as 4 weeks consist of external assessment and treatment only unless specified by your doctor/midwife. Internal assessments after birth can begin after your 6 weeks follow up with your doctor/midwife.
Your individualized treatment may include any of the following:
- Education about your symptoms, encouragement, and hope!
- Internal assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles, to assess and treat tension and pelvic floor muscle strength, and its connection with your whole body/system
- External manual therapy
- Desensitization of caesarean or vaginal scars
- Acupuncture
- Kinesiotape
- Guidance and individualized support with returning to exercise and sports you love
- Home exercise program tailored to your goals which may involve mobility, strength training, yoga and Pilates based therapeutic exercises
